Deauville-La Touques Delivers Thrilling Autumn Races on October 20

Located in Normandy, France, the HIPPODROME DE DEAUVILLE-LA TOUQUES welcomed racegoers on Monday, 20th October, for a vibrant eight-race card, timed from 1:55 pm to 6:00 pm. The meeting forms part of Deauville’s autumn segment of its flat-racing season and features notable contests including the Listed Criterium de Vitesse and the Group 3 Darley Prix des Réservoirs, adding extra prestige to the day. With softish turf listed as “Good to Soft” and fields brimming with ambition, the setting in Deauville’s coastal atmosphere made this card both competitive and relaxed—a perfect mix for fans of colour, pace and performance.

Race 1: PRIX DE LA FORET DE LYONS (1:55pm, 1900 metres)

The card opened with a lively contest as DARI RIVER crossed in 1.56.44, under a sharp ride from jockey HUGO JOURNIAC. Trainer Y. BARBEROT had the mount well placed, breeder MME R. SHEPARD saw their efforts rewarded, and owner MME REBECCA SHEPARD took the early spoils. SIYOUKING chased hard right to the line, while ZACAPO held well for a credible third.

Race 2: CRITERIUM DE VITESSE (2:30pm, 1100 metres)

Race 2 featured a tight field, and PEARL FORTUNE showed the class to finish in 1. 4.88. Jockey CRISTIAN DEMURO timed the challenge just right, trainer KR. BURKE had the preparation spot on, breeder PIGEON PARK STUD added to their successes, and owners SAYED HASHISH and JAMIE PIGGOTT savoured the win. JEUDIXX ran on strongly in second, with KIMI REY closing for third.

Race 3: PRIX DE LA FORET D’ECOUVES (3:05pm, 1900 metres)

Mid‐afternoon brought a strong effort from SOGYNT, who powered home in 1.59.45. With MARVIN GRANDIN’s ride perfectly executed and CH. PLISSON’s tactics paying off, breeders M. MELIN and M. MELIN and owners MAT.MELIN and MICH.MELIN had much to celebrate. MELANIES JOY stayed in contention right to the end, and AL ALAALI completed the frame with credit.

Race 4: DARLEY PRIX DES RESERVOIRS (3:40pm, 1600 metres)

The fourth race of fillies stood out as one of the features of the afternoon. RHIYANNA crossed in 1.47.82, delivering under pressure. With TONY PICCONE in the saddle, HA. PANTALL’s preparation showed up, breeder MME Y. PANTALL and PANTALL (S)’s influence made the difference, and owner MR ALAIN JATHIERE took the honours. KISS MELODY and SHAHBANU stayed close and completed the podium.

A souvenir will be offered by Mr. Baptiste HENRY (French Representative DARLEY) and Mr. Nicolas de CHAMBURE (Administrator of FRANCE GALOP) to the owner, trainer, jockey, breeder and training rider of the winning filly. Darley will reward the training rider of the best presented filly.

Race 5: PRIX DE LA FORET DE CERISY (4:15pm, 1900 metres)

In one of the special listed contests of the day, ANONYME claimed victory in 2. 0.44 with authority. MME FRIDA VALLE SKAR judged the pace expertly, A. SAGOT had the horse primed for the spotlight, breeders C. MICHEL and A. SAGOT saw pedigree shine through, and owner MR MAURICE MAIGE enjoyed a standout result. PRINCESS LAURA kept the pressure on to the finish, while FIRST DREM ran on well for third.

Race 6: PRIX VULCAIN (4:50pm, 2500 metres)

As the afternoon deepened, VIKING INVASION produced a polished finish to win in 2.48.58. With MAXIME GUYON’s ride steady and sure, JP. O’BRIEN’s work evident, breeder YEOMANSTOWN LODGE STUD proud and owners MARK DOBBIN and EDELLE LOGAN delighted, it was a thoroughly deserved success. AEGEAN PRINCE pressed until late, and WALLEAH held on for the frame.

A souvenir was offered to the owner of the winning horse by FRANCE GALOP.

Race 7: PRIX DE LA FORET D’EAWY (5:25pm, 1900 metres)

The finale wrapped up the card with style as BOETTI surged home in 2. 0.24. THEO BACHELOT’s judgement was spot on, MME A. BUDKA’s preparation paid off, breeder C. MARZOCCO added another win to their record, and owner MR GIUSEPPE DE MOLINER left celebrating. BRAMANS fought for second all the way, and JARRY LORD finished strongly to complete the top three.

Race 8: PRIX DU MARAIS VERNIER (6:00pm, 1900 metres)

The finale brought the curtain down on Deauville’s 2025 flat season in perfect fashion. SOEUR charged home in 1.58.39, THEO BACHELOT giving every ounce of judgment and control. S. WATTEL and MR JEAN-LOUIS PARIENTE ended their year on a winning note, while JL. PARIENTE’s line proved enduring. KABOOM CZE and NOOTKA BAY rounded out the final frame of the season.

From early strides to the final furlong, Deauville’s afternoon captured the charm and competition of Normandy flat-racing. The two listed contests added prestige, while the seaside setting lent a relaxed edge to the day. With the autumn meeting still under way, plenty of attention now turns to the next days of racing at Deauville, where today’s winners may well carry their form forward.
