The Hyderabad Monsoon Races 2025 continued with a touch of brilliance on Monday, October 20th, as Arizona Sun (J: Akshay Kumar) stole the spotlight in the 2nd Race – The Sircilla Plate, a Class IV handicap for horses aged three years and upward rated 20 to 45. The R.H. Sequeira-trained colt powered home in an impressive finish to secure victory for owners Ms Ashok Kumar Gupta, Rama Seshu Eyunni, and Rafaat Hussain.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Arizona Sun settled comfortably behind the early leaders before launching a decisive move at the top of the straight. Akshay Kumar timed his challenge to perfection, urging the colt forward with controlled aggression in the final furlong. The response was instant — Arizona Sun surged clear to leave his rivals chasing shadows, displaying both stamina and finishing flair typical of a seasoned campaigner from the Sequeira yard.
Special Star (J: P. Sai Kumar, T: K.S.V. Prasad Raju) put up a spirited effort to finish second after keeping the winner in sight through the run-in, while Elegant Lady (J: A. Ashhad Asbar, T: B. Mukesh Kumar) stayed on resolutely to claim third, marking a tightly contested affair.
With The Sircilla Plate wrapped up in thrilling style, attention now turns to the next contest — The Sandown Park Plate, promising another engaging chapter in the Hyderabad Monsoon Races.
