Race 5 at the Pune Meeting 2025, held at the Royal Western India Turf Club on Sunday, 19th October, witnessed an electrifying finish in The Royal Barbershop Trophy, a Class IV contest for Indian horses rated 20 to 46 over 1400 metres. Neptune (3Y DKB F), ridden by A. Sandesh for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, powered to victory in 1:25:696, delivering a remarkable performance for owners Mr Geoffrey B Nagpal, Mr Angad Singh rep Mukteshwar Rac LLP & Mr Jaisal Singh.

Neptune settled patiently behind the early leaders before making a decisive surge in the final 300 metres. Exhibiting both composure and acceleration, the three-year-old filly timed her challenge perfectly, hitting the front with authority and drawing clear to the winning post. The tactical ride by Sandesh ensured Neptune’s stamina and speed were fully utilized, leaving a strong impression on the punters and racegoers alike.

The runner-up honours went to Ashwa Gypsy (4Y B F), under Haridas Gore for trainer Sanjay Kolse, finishing just behind in 1:25:841 after a battling effort throughout the home straight. Believe (5Y B G), guided by A. Prakash for trainer S. Waheed, secured third place in 1:26:577, rounding off a tightly contested podium finish.

With the Royal Barbershop Trophy concluded and the crowd buzzing with excitement, attention now turns to the Dr. P. K. Sardeshmukh Maharaj Trophy, scheduled for 4.20 P.M., promising another thrilling chapter of Pune’s Special Race Day.
