The action at Pune Racecourse reached a thrilling peak with Race 4, The Dakshin Maharashtra & Goa Sub-Area Trophy, a Class II contest for horses rated 60 to 86 (40 to 59 eligible) over 1200 meters, held on Sunday, 19th October 2025 at 3:00 PM. Ataash (J: A. Omkar, T: Nazzak B Chenoy), representing owners Mrs Bakhtawar B. Chenoy, Miss Nazzak B Chenoy, Ms Ameeta Mehra rep. Mehra Stud And Agricultural Farms Pvt Ltd & Mr Govind Gandhi, produced a commanding performance, clocking a winning time of 1:07:688 to assert dominance in a competitive field.
Ataash settled just off the early pace, biding time while tracking the front-runners before unleashing a decisive burst in the final 300 meters. Displaying both stamina and speed, Omkar timed his challenge perfectly, guiding Ataash past rivals in the straight to claim a stylish victory that left punters impressed with the gelding’s composure and turn of foot.
The runner-up spot went to Fighton (J: N. S. Parmar, T: M. K. Jadhav), who kept the winner under pressure throughout the final furlong, finishing in 1:07:759. Bashir (J: Antony Raj S., T: Karthik Ganapathy) stayed on strongly to claim third in 1:08:239, rounding off an exciting top three.
With Race 4 concluded, all eyes now turn to the Royal Barbershop Trophy at 3:40 PM, promising another enthralling contest at the Royal Western India Turf Club.
