The 5th race of the Hyderabad Monsoon Races 2025 on Monday, October 13th, THE NAWAB MEHDI JUNG BAHADUR MEMORIAL CUP DIV I, a Class III handicap for horses aged five years and upward rated 40 to 65 over 1100 metres, delivered an electrifying finish as Federer (J: P Ajeeth Kumar, T: Ananta Vatsalya) stormed home in 1:08.00. Racing in the colours of Ms Shaik Asif, Thota V N S S Prasad, Rajendra Babu Manthena, Pamulapati Srinivasa Rao, and Yerram Srinivasareddy Sriram Uppaluri, Federer displayed precision timing and blistering pace to secure a decisive victory.

From the outset, Federer positioned himself prominently, tracking the pace set by the early leaders. As the field rounded the home bend, P Ajeeth Kumar produced a perfectly timed acceleration, pulling Federer through a narrow gap to surge past rivals in the final 200 metres. The horse’s determination and balance under pressure proved pivotal in clinching the win, leaving the crowd in awe of a performance that combined both speed and tactical acumen.

The runner-up spot went to Coming Home (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: Magan Singh Parmar), who kept the winner under close scrutiny but ultimately finished in a strong second. Leather Back (J: Rafique S K, T: B Mukesh Kumar) finished a resolute third, rounding out a competitive top three with fine margins separating the leaders.
