The afternoon at Pune Racecourse on Sunday, 12th October 2025, witnessed a thrilling display of youthful talent in the 4th race, The Jimmy Umrigar Trophy Div I, a 1400-metre maiden contest exclusively for three-year-old Indian horses. Alfonsine (J: K. Sai Kiran) delivered a polished performance for trainer Prasanna Kumar P. and owner Mr Arun Kumar P., crossing the finish line in a swift 1:25:079 to secure her maiden triumph with authority.
Racing prominently from the outset, Alfonsine settled in a tracking position behind the early pace setters before unleashing a decisive turn of foot in the final 300 metres. Displaying both composure and timing, he surged past the front runners to establish a clear lead, leaving the spectators impressed by her finishing burst.
Runner-up honours went to Exciting (J: Vivek G., T: P. Shroff), who battled valiantly throughout and completed the 1400 metres in 1:25:635. Caradoc (J: P. Trevor, T: Dallas Todywalla) stayed on strongly in the closing stages to take third in 1:25:982, ensuring the top three were separated by narrow margins.
With The Jimmy Umrigar Trophy Div I concluded, attention now turns to the feature contest of the afternoon, The Noshir & Dolly Dhunjibhoy Sprint Million (Grade III), scheduled for 03:30 PM, promising another exhilarating chapter in Pune’s tenth day of racing.
