The 2025 Pune Meeting’s tenth day opened with flair as The Commander Trophy, a Class III race for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 (20 to 39 eligible), unfolded over 1400 metres at 1:30 PM on Sunday, 12th October 2025. In a performance that blended rhythm and resolve, Opus Dei (J: C. Umesh) delivered a masterful victory for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, stopping the clock at 1:27:189 for owner Mr C. Aryama Sundaram, who watched his colours flash past the post in determined style.

Breaking sharply from the gates, Opus Dei settled smoothly just off the pace, conserving energy for a decisive move as the field approached the final bend. Jockey C. Umesh timed his challenge with precision, urging the gelding forward inside the last furlong. The pair surged ahead with measured authority, holding their rivals at bay with an assertive burst of acceleration that left no room for doubt about the result.

Scaramouche (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Behram Cama) put up a valiant chase to finish second in 1:27:291, keeping the pressure on the leader until the final strides. Liam (J: A. Omkar, T: Nazzak B. Chenoy) closed in strongly to claim third in 1:27:474, adding further excitement to a tightly contested opener.
