The 3rd race of the Mysore (Monsoon) Races 2025 — The Gool & Soli Poonawalla Memorial Trophy — brought the crowd to its feet on Thursday, October 9, with a sharp display of promise from the three-year-old filly Goddess Of War. Run over a testing 1400 metres at 3:30 PM, this maiden contest for Indian horses aged three years showcased the rising stars of the season. Trained by Prasanna Kumar P. and piloted confidently by Antony Raj S., Goddess Of War stormed to her first career victory in 1:23.484, racing in the silks of Dr C. A. Prashanth, M/s P. Prasanna Kumar, K. Manoj Kumar, H. J. Balram, K. Harish Nayak, Satish G. Kundapur & Dr Arvind M. N.
Breaking sharply from the gates, Goddess Of War settled neatly just off the pace before shifting gears at the bend. Antony Raj timed his move to perfection, pushing her to the front inside the final furlong. Despite a spirited challenge from Vibrant Queen, the filly displayed poise and maturity well beyond her maiden tag, stretching away in the final strides to seal the contest with authority.
Vibrant Queen (J: L. Alex Rozario, T: K. Pradeep Annaiah) gave a determined chase to finish second in 1:23.621, while Silver Quest (J: H. Rahul, T: Vishal Yadav) followed close behind in 1:23.720, rounding off a tightly contested trifecta that reflected the high calibre of this maiden group.
With The Gool & Soli Poonawalla Memorial Trophy decided in thrilling fashion, all eyes now turn to the next highlight of the afternoon — The Chief Minister’s Cup at 4:00 PM — promising another dose of top-class racing action at Mysore.
