The thrill of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale is already building, and this week’s breeze-up sessions offered plenty of reason for excitement. From Warwick Farm to Wangaratta and even across the Tasman in Taupo, two-year-olds displayed both class and potential, hinting at the next generation of champions.
At Warwick Farm, a Toronado colt out of Baccarat Bay (lot 188) stole the show, stopping the clock at an impressive 10.05 seconds for the 200m gallop. Offered by Hunter’s Lodge, the colt impressed not only with his speed but also his calm temperament and easy-going nature. “He’s just so relaxed,” said Liam Ruddy. “Every piece of work has been effortless.”
Other notable performers included an All Too Hard gelding (lot 19) and the Dirty Work x Pompeia colt (lot 99), both from Hannover Lodge, recording times of 10.10 and 10.13 seconds respectively. Trainer Hinnerk Hueppe praised their intelligence and movement, highlighting the depth of quality in their draft.
Meanwhile, Taupo’s New Zealand vendors showcased a strong line-up, with Prima Park’s Exceed and Excel x Sharapova colt (lot 128) and Farnan x Tuscan Piazza gelding (lot 150) posting the fastest times of 10.38 and 10.45 seconds. Kelly Van Dyke expressed satisfaction at seeing months of preparation come to fruition.
Over in Wangaratta, Nolen Racing’s Pinatubo x Queen Himiko colt (lot 109) impressed with a time of 10.22 seconds under Luke Nolen, who described him as one of the best breezed for the stable. Dean Harvey’s Baystone Farm draft also caught the eye, particularly the Zoustar filly Rachini (lot 89), already being tipped for the Listed Debutant Stakes at Caulfield.
Harry Bailey, Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager, hailed the sessions as a resounding success. “Our expectations were exceeded,” Bailey said. “The standard of horses on offer will be very impressive to buyers and industry participants alike.”
With inspections beginning October 13 at Riverside Stables and the sale kicking off on October 16, the excitement surrounding Australia’s most progressive 2YO sale is palpable. Racing fans can also look forward to The Everest at Royal Randwick on October 12, featuring top sprinters including Hong Kong champion Ka Ying Rising.
