The tenth day of the Monsoon Meeting at Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) on Sunday, 28th September 2025, saw Race 8, The Monsoon Cup, for horses aged four years and above over 2000 meters, deliver an exhilarating performance. High Command (5Y B H), ridden expertly by P. Trevor and trained by L V R Deshmukh, surged ahead to claim a decisive victory in 2:05.356 for owners Col S B Nair & Mr Arjun Nair, showcasing both stamina and class in this competitive field.

High Command settled just off the early pace before making a commanding move approaching the final bend. With a perfectly timed burst of acceleration, Trevor guided the five-year-old past his rivals, demonstrating tactical intelligence and finishing strength that left the crowd in awe. The horse’s determination and well-judged ride ensured a clear and authoritative win in the afternoon’s feature middle-distance contest.

The runner-up honors went to Sativur (4Y CH G), ridden by Imran Chisty and trained by Rutherford Alford, finishing strongly in 2:06.528 after chasing the leader throughout. Good Deeds (5Y B M), under Neeraj Rawal for trainer Rajesh Narredu, closed late to secure third in 2:07.374, completing a tightly contested top three.

With The Monsoon Cup concluded, all eyes now turn to The Calcutta Monsoon Derby (Grade II) at 4:00 PM, the biggest race of the day, promising more high-octane action and top-class equine talent at RCTC.
