The seventh race of the Monsoon Meeting at Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) on Sunday, 28th September 2025, saw King Louis (6Y DKB G) claim a decisive victory in The Free Energy Handicap, a Class II contest for horses rated 61-86 over 1400 metres. Under the skilled guidance of jockey Vivek G., King Louis crossed the finish line in 1:25.191, representing owners Mrs Esha Banerjee, Mrs Manju Mazumder, Mr Joydeep Datta Gupta, Mr Jeet Banerjee, Mr Achuthan Siddharth, Mr Sanjay Datta Gupta, Mr Ananda Bose, Mr Dipak Harshadrai Doshi & Mr Sanjay Ginodia, and delivered a performance full of timing and authority.

From the start, King Louis settled beautifully just off the pace, biding his time as the field jostled for position. Approaching the final 400 metres, Vivek G. asked for a sustained effort, and the six-year-old responded with a sharp burst of speed to surge clear of his rivals. Maintaining momentum through the home straight, King Louis showcased a blend of power and composure that proved decisive in claiming the win.

Runner-up Snowpiercer (5Y B M), ridden by A Ashhad Asbar for trainer Patrick Quinn, finished strongly in 1:25.571, keeping the winner within striking distance but unable to match his final acceleration. King of Mafia (7Y B G), under Antony Raj S. for trainer B Mahesh, completed the trifecta in 1:26.097, securing third place after a steady late charge.

With the Free Energy Handicap wrapped up, attention now shifts to the Monsoon Cup, scheduled for 03:30 PM, a race expected to challenge both stamina and tactics as the Monsoon Meeting continues at RCTC.
