The concluding highlight of the Mysore (Monsoon) Races 2025 – 5th Day, held on Thursday, 18 September 2025, saw a competitive field line up for the 7th race of the afternoon — The Fair Wood Plate, a Class III contest for horses rated 40 to 65 over 1400 metres. Rising to the occasion, Sir Calculus (J: Abhishek Mhatre, T: Pillay J S) delivered a composed yet commanding performance, seizing the initiative late and stopping the clock at 1:24.791 for proud owner Mr Deepak Kumar.

Breaking smartly from the gates, Sir Calculus was settled in mid-division through the opening stages as the early leaders carved out an honest tempo. Mhatre held his nerve and conserved his mount’s energy until the field swung for home, where Sir Calculus threaded through a narrow gap, quickened with purpose, and surged past the tiring frontrunners to assert clear superiority in the closing strides.

Mystic Divine (J: Faiz, T: C D Monnappa) gave spirited chase to finish second in 1:25.003, while Worldly Wise (J: Gagandeep Maan, T: J Ganesh) stayed on gamely to claim third in 1:25.095, ensuring a tightly packed finish among the top three contenders.

With the day’s action wrapped up in style, the Mysore turf now looks ahead to its next raceday on Friday, 19 September — for complete coverage and updates, stay tuned to RaceBuzz.
