Race 2 at the Royal Western India Turf Club on Sunday, 14th September 2025, saw The Excellent Trophy, a Class I contest for horses rated 80 and upward (with 60 to 79 eligible), run over 1200 metres. TURN AND BURN (4Y B G), ridden by N. S. Parmar and trained by M. K. Jadhav, delivered a scintillating performance to claim the trophy in 1:09:259. Owned by Mr Prashant Nagar representing SKJ Thoroughbreds Pvt Ltd, the four-year-old showcased speed and composure, earning a well-deserved win at Pune.
From the break, Turn and Burn settled prominently, keeping a keen eye on the early pace. Demonstrating a perfect blend of acceleration and timing, the winner surged in the final 200 metres, quickly drawing clear of the field and crossing the line with authority, leaving competitors chasing in vain.
Runner-up honours went to CHRISTOPHANY (5Y CH M), guided by Neeraj Rawal for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, finishing just behind in 1:09:320 after a determined effort. IT’S MY TIME (6Y B G), under Aditya Waydande for trainer Dallas Todywalla, claimed third in 1:09:402, ensuring a tightly contested top three in this competitive Class I affair.
With the applause still echoing, attention now shifts to the eagerly awaited Serum Institute of India Trophy at 02:20 PM, promising another thrilling chapter in Pune’s seventh day of racing.
