The sixth race of the Monsoon Meeting at Calcutta Races, The Super Sunrise Handicap Div I, a Class III contest for horses rated 41-66 over 1200 meters, thrilled spectators on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at 4:15 PM. Celtic Harlequin (7Y B G), owned by Mr Rahul Sharma and trained by Rutherford Alford, showcased experience and speed, crossing the finish line in 1:12.955 to claim a decisive victory.
From the start, Celtic Harlequin settled well behind the early pace setters, conserving energy before making a perfectly timed surge in the final 300 meters. Jockey Imran Chisty guided the veteran gelding with composure, weaving through traffic and opening a clear lead that no rival could challenge, demonstrating both tactical intelligence and finishing power.
Runner-up honours went to Mathangi (4Y B F), ridden by A. Ashhad Asbar for trainer Dr Anil Kumar, who finished in 1:13.074, staying close to the winner throughout the home stretch. Dr Doom (6Y B G), under R Vaibhav for trainer Javed Khan, completed the top three in 1:13.279, rounding out an exciting finish where margins remained tight.
