The BK Krishnadevaraj Urs Memorial Trophy provided a sparkling highlight on the opening day of the 2025/2026 Mysore Monsoon Races, with Agera producing a decisive turn of foot to land the contest. Trained by K. Pradeep Annaiah and ridden with assurance by L. Alex Rozario, the bay gelding drew clear to win by over three lengths in 1:11.781, sealing the Agera BK Krishnadevaraj Urs Memorial Trophy over 1200 metres.
Rozario settled Agera smartly just off the early pace before unleashing him at the top of the straight. The response was immediate and emphatic, with the Declaration of War progeny surging away from his rivals in commanding fashion. It was a performance that drew loud cheers from the Mysore crowd and gave trainer Annaiah a memorable victory on the first afternoon of the new season.
Lady Invictus, carrying 59 kilos under Y.S. Srinath, finished a clear second for trainer M. Eshwer, two lengths behind the winner. Absolute Conqueror and Little Minister filled the minor placings, both finishing within a length of each other, while Mandolin, Droman Power, and Prince Corporate trailed behind in a closely packed finish.
For connections of Agera, the manner of victory suggested that he could be set for bigger challenges as the season progresses. Rozario’s composed ride and the gelding’s decisive acceleration were noted as the hallmarks of a horse in top form.
The day’s attention now moves to another eagerly awaited feature — the H.H. Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy over 1200 metres — which promises another exciting clash at Mysore Race Club.
