Positano wins The Idar Gold Trophy

The second-last contest of the Pune Meeting 2025, fifth day, unfolded on Sunday, 31st August 2025, at the Pune Racecourse under the banner of the Royal Western India Turf Club. The atmosphere was expectant as the field lined up for The Idar Gold Trophy, a demanding 2400-metre terms race for horses four years old and over, known for testing both stamina and strategy.

It was Positano who rose to the occasion, delivering a well-judged performance under jockey A. Sandesh for trainer S. S. Attaollahi. Settled patiently through the early stages, the horse produced a strong run in the straight to take command in the final furlong, completing the journey in 2:31.511. The victory brought delight to the connections — Mr. D. R. Thacker, representing DT Racing & Breeders LLP, along with Mr. Mukul Sonawala, Mr. S. R. Sanas, and Mr. Rama Seshu Eyunni.

Dream Alliance, ridden by N. S. Parmar for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, fought on gamely to secure second place in 2:31:850 while Arkadian, guided by Vivek G. for trainer Pesi Shroff, filled the minor berth in third in 2:31:960. Both runners contributed to a well-contested finish, ensuring the audience remained engaged until the line.

With the trophy decided, attention now turns to the concluding race of the afternoon, The Shivalik Showers Plate, where another competitive field is set to round off the day’s programme.
