Aspira Clinches Victory in Madras’s The Welcome Cup
The crowd at Madras Race Club erupted as Aspira stormed past the finish line to take The Welcome Cup, the second-last race of the day on August 30th, 2025. Jockey Yash Narredu guided the horse with precision, giving trainer Deepesh Narredu another memorable triumph. Owners Mr. K Kaliyaperumal, Mr. Anil Saraf, and Mr. Balam Mohla celebrated the prestigious title.
The Welcome Cup, for horses rated 60-85, was contested over 1,200 meters at 4:30 PM. From the outset, Aspira demonstrated a sharp burst of speed, quickly gaining the lead and maintaining it with composure and determination, finishing the race in 1:11.503. The coordination with Yash Narredu made for a commanding performance that thrilled spectators.
Golden Marina finished second, 1½ lengths behind, with Darshan N expertly guiding the horse for trainer R. Ramanathan. The horse, owned by M/S. GMMSR Advisory Services LLP represented by Dr. M. A. M. R. Muthiah Ramaswamy, gave a strong challenge but was unable to close the gap. Proposed completed the podium in third place, 3½ lengths back, ridden by Sah Farid Ansari for trainer R. Ramanathan and also owned by M/S. GMMSR Advisory Services LLP.
With The Welcome Cup concluded, attention now turns to the final race of the day, The Red Rufus Handicap, promising one last exciting contest for racing fans at Madras.
