Romping Home secures Mount Everest Handicap at Madras Races
The Madras Races 2025–26 season kept its momentum with another exciting finish in the second contest of opening day. The Mount Everest Handicap, run over 1200 metres at 3:00 pm for horses rated 40–65, went the way of Romping Home, producing a strong performance to seal the victory.
Romping Home, owned by Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mr Hatim A. Lakdawala, Mr Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni, Mr Teja Gollapudi and Mr Anil Saraf, was ridden by Yash Narredu and trained by Deepesh Narredu. The winner crossed the line in 1:11.967, a fluent effort that gave the Narredu team a perfect strike on opening day.
Gold Ride, guided by Sah Farid Ansari for trainer R. Ramanathan, chased gamely but was beaten a length and three-quarters, clocking 1:12.257 for second place. Swarga, under Darshan N for trainer J. Sebastian, followed in third, three lengths further back, with a time of 1:12.766.
The day at Guindy continues with anticipation building around the Hovercraft Handicap, the next race on the card.
