Clairefontaine Race Day: Eight Thrilling Contests Keep Fans on Edge

Racing enthusiasts at Hippodrome de Clairefontaine were treated to a thrilling display of equine excellence on 27th August 2025, as eight competitive races unfolded across the afternoon and evening. From the first jump to the last furlong, the tension was palpable, with trainers and jockeys visibly moved by their horses’ performances. Cheers erupted across the stands, a testament to the passion and skill on display.

The day kicked off with Genybet Prize (Sycamores Prize), a steeplechase over 3,900 metres at 2:20 pm. Belize, ridden by Gabin Meunier and trained by D. Bressou, made a commanding impression in 4:51.40, fending off Loreley des Places, while Maohi claimed third. The crowd responded with warmth, acknowledging the winner’s grit and determination.

Critics’ Award (Astrolabe Prize) followed at 2:55 pm, a 3,900-metre hurdle. Hell Storm, expertly handled by Leo-Paul Brechet for trainer Y. Fouin, surged ahead to finish in 3:50.30. Duc de Roche and Innamorato completed the frame, leaving spectators in awe of the finely judged tactics and stamina.

At 3:30 pm, the Awards of the 51st Deauville American Film Festival (Px de la Risle), a 3,600-metre hurdle, saw Miss des Boullats impress under Bryony Frost for trainer M. Seror. Clocking 4:13.90, the winner held off Master Falcon, while So Girl finished third, drawing appreciative applause for the late rally.

The Deauville City Public Prize 2025 (Ypreaux Prize) at 4:05 pm, a 3,700-metre steeplechase, turned into a tense finish. Kit Raffles, guided by Bryony Frost for D. Sourdeau de Beauregard, triumphed in 4:16.90, just ahead of Balling de Juilley, as Henri Quatre completed the podium.

In the 4:40 pm Px of the Grd Jury of the Deauville Merry Film Festival (Px des Troenes) hurdle over 3,600 metres, Rooster Crowing, ridden by Charles Clayeux for M. Seror, took the honours in 4:12.00. Inner Success and Galactico were second and third, respectively, in a race that had fans on the edge of their seats.

The 5:15 pm D’Ornano-Valenti Prize (Charcoal Prize) hurdle at 3,400 metres showcased Dschingis Token, under Clement Lefebvre for P&C Peltier, powering home in 3:50.60. Bariton Debelair and Landegavum completed the top three, with the winner’s final stride met with enthusiastic applause.

The Grand Steeple-Chase of the City of Deauville at 6:00 pm, covering 4,500 metres, featured a commanding performance by Showly. Flo rent Bayle guided the Chaille-Chaille & Pamart-prepared runner to victory in 5:19.90, fending off Jouvancelle, while Golden Park finished third, capping an intense day with one of the longest and most exciting races.

Finally, the Jury Prize for Revelation (Lavateres Prize) hurdle at 3,900 metres at 6:35 pm brought the day to a close. Gentleman Valley, under James Reveley for N. George & A. Zetterholm, finished strongly in 4:34.60, ahead of By Exeter and Mist Girl, leaving the crowd buzzing from the day’s culmination.

Clairefontaine delivered once again on its reputation for memorable racing, offering a mix of tactical brilliance, raw speed, and moments of sheer drama. Each contest not only crowned worthy winners but also highlighted the dedication of trainers, jockeys, and owners alike.
