King Of Mafia wins The Sprightly Handicap

The Royal Calcutta Turf Club saw a thrilling finish in the Sprightly Handicap, a class 2 race for horses rated 61–86 over 1200 metres, carrying prize money of Rs.5,50,000.

King Of Mafia, the 7-year-old bay gelding, was expertly handled by Antony Raj S. for trainer B Mahesh, and powered home in 1:13.188 to clinch victory at odds of 15/4. The winner, owned by Mr. Alfric Seldon Rego, quickened smartly inside the final furlong to hold his rivals at bay.

Sky Force, a 4-year-old filly from the yard of Arti Doctor, ran a brave race to secure second place under P Tejeshwar, stopping the clock at 1:13.653.

Stormy Ocean, the 6-year-old bay gelding trained by Rutherford Alford and ridden by Imran Chisty, finished strongly to claim third in 1:13.749, completing the frame.
