Hyderabad races August 25 cancelled notice

The Hyderabad Race Club has announced the cancellation of its scheduled race meeting on Monday, 25th August 2025. In an official notice issued on Thursday morning, the club confirmed that the entire day’s programme will not go ahead owing to a paucity of acceptors.

To partly mitigate the loss of a full card, two races originally framed for August 25 have been rescheduled to Sunday, 24th August 2025. These are:

  • The B. Marideshwara Rao Memorial Cup (About 1200 Metres) – Category II
(Handicap for 3-year-olds and upward, rated 40 to 65, that have run but not won since 1st November 2024.)

  • The Northern Dancer Plate (About 1400 Metres) – Category II
(Handicap for 5-year-olds and upward, rated 40 to 65.)

With this adjustment, Sunday’s racecard will be enlarged by the addition of these two events, while Monday’s meeting stands cancelled in its entirety.

While fans will benefit from a slightly expanded card on Sunday, the cancellation highlights ongoing challenges faced by racing clubs in framing viable fixtures when entries are thin. Trainers and owners will now re-strategise their plans, with some horses losing intended runs as a result of the curtailed schedule.

The Hyderabad Race Club stated that the reshuffle was unavoidable in the interest of maintaining competitive fields. By preponing two races, officials hope to ensure that participants and racegoers are not entirely deprived of those contests.
