Early on, Ashima’s temperament proved a challenge. “It was like trying to put a diaper on a two-headed alligator,” Santoro said. By spending quiet time in her stall and letting her come around at her own pace, he gradually earned her trust. Within weeks, she became far more manageable, allowing her natural ability to shine.
Frolics Revenge 2025 Field and Rematch with Lets Go Koko
Ashima enters Frolics Revenge 2025 off a 6¼-length Tapeta win on July 18, her seventh victory in eight starts. Her only recent loss came by half a length to Lets Go Koko, who reappears here for the rematch. The race is set for one mile on turf, though Santoro says he’d be equally happy if it switched to Tapeta.
“She’s an intelligent animal with a world of talent,” Santoro said. “Her coat shines, she’s holding her weight, and she’s put on muscle in all the right places. If it comes off the turf, that extra 70 yards will be no problem.”
Claiming Crown Path Beyond Frolics Revenge 2025
After Saturday, the long-term aim is the Claiming Crown Tiara on November 15 at Churchill Downs, a 1 1/16-mile turf contest for fillies and mares that have raced for $25,000 or less in recent seasons. Santoro plans to give Ashima a short break followed by a prep race in October to keep her sharp.
“That’s the one we’re aiming for,” he said. “It would mean a lot for her and for Wally. He’s a young owner from New Jersey who truly loves the game.”
From a bargain purchase to a stakes threat, Ashima’s journey is proof of what patience, persistence, and belief can achieve — and Frolics Revenge 2025 may be her next major chapter.
