Polka Dot Wins Calcutta’s The Brighter Future Plate
The third contest of the Calcutta Races’ Monsoon Meeting third day was the 1,400-metre The Brighter Future Plate, a test exclusively for three-year-olds rated 1–26. With a promising crop lining up, the race carried an extra measure of intrigue for owners and racegoers alike.
Polka Dot, trained by Aashay Doctor and partnered by P Trevor, travelled with confidence from the start, keeping within striking range before unleashing a telling run in the home stretch. She stopped the clock at 1:26.530, securing a clear victory and making her mark early in her career.
The filly is owned by Mrs. Menaka Gupta, Mrs. Rina Mahindra, Ms. Arion Horse Co. Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Marthand Singh Mahindra, M/s. Deciding Factor LLP, Mr. Hemang Devendra Doctor, Mr. Kaushal Kumbhat, Mr. Chandrakanta Kankaria, Mr. Viral Devkumar Doctor, Mr. Achuthan Siddharth, who will be encouraged by the manner of her success.
Runner-up honours went to Goodwill, guided by Vishal Bunde for trainer N Darashah. Completing the top three was Global Fashion, ridden by Aashay Doctor for Hasib Alam.
With The Brighter Future Plate decided, the stage now shifts to The My Opinion Cup, the next chapter in an engaging day’s racing at the historic Calcutta track.
