Shergar Cup Silver Saddle 2025: Bowman’s Opening Charge
Bowman set the tone early in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash (1000m), guiding the Richard Fahey-trained Vintage Clarets to a determined victory. Teetan managed third aboard Venture Capital, but it was Bowman’s daring move through a tightening gap 400m out that delivered maximum points and an early lead for Rest of the World.
The win marked Bowman’s third career success at the Shergar Cup and reinforced his reputation for delivering on the big stage. “It’s a great feeling. Vintage Clarets is a real character, but once I got him to relax, he quickened beautifully,” Bowman said after the race.

Asia Hit Back Through Narredu and Sakai
Team Asia responded in the Shergar Cup Stayers (3207m) as Suraj Narredu steered Fireblade to a strong win, earning the Ride of the Day award. Teetan’s second place on Almuhit closed the gap to just a point between the two teams.
The early lead from his Shergar Cup Silver Saddle 2025 campaign was under threat when Bowman finished second in the Shergar Cup Challenge (2400m), making most of the running before being caught late by Robbie Dolan on Night Breeze for Great Britain & Ireland.
Japan’s Ryusei Sakai added to Asia’s tally in the Shergar Cup Sprint (1200m), celebrating his first UK win. Narredu’s fourth on Up The Pace contributed more valuable points, stretching Asia’s advantage once again.
Europe’s Late Rally and a Tense Finale
The competition was blown wide open in the Shergar Cup Classic (2400m) when Europe’s Delphine Santiago and Dario Di Tocco delivered a one-two finish on Tenability and Team Player. That surge left just 10 points separating all four teams heading into the last race.
In the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (1600m), Bowman’s third-place ride on Urban Lion proved enough to clinch the Shergar Cup Silver Saddle 2025 by six points over Europe’s Per-Anders Graberg. However, it wasn’t enough to lift Rest of the World from the foot of the standings.
“It’s my second Silver Saddle from three attempts, so it’s a lovely afternoon,” Bowman reflected. “This event is globally recognised, and it’s great to be part of it.”
Format Changes Keep Fans Engaged
The 2025 edition saw the Ladies team replaced by Asia, a move that delivered competitive balance and unpredictability. Four debutant riders claimed wins, and every team got on the scoreboard. The Shergar Cup Silver Saddle 2025 will be remembered for its blend of individual brilliance and team tension, captivating racegoers until the final stride.
