Mysore Summer Races 2025 Conclude Today with a Competitive Eight-Race Card at MRC
Today, August 6, marks the grand finale of the Mysore Summer Races 2025, with the eleventh and final day at the historic Mysore Race Club (MRC) featuring eight contests that promise high-stakes competition, emerging talent, and seasoned rivals. From maiden three-year-olds to elite milers vying for the Mysore Race Club Million, the afternoon encapsulates the energy and unpredictability that have defined the summer meet.
Early Races Feature Debutants and Rising Stars
The day opens with the Aristocrat Plate, a 1200-metre dash for maiden three-year-old Indian horses. Always for You, ridden by H. Rahul and trained by Monnappa C D, makes a compelling debut bid, while Arianne under M. Prabhakaran brings balanced potential to the field. Shaylah, partnered with Anil Baandal, will look to capitalize on her placement.
Up next, the Manasasarovara Plate also covers 1200 metres, this time for horses rated 0 to 25. Eco System, for trainer Santosh Rao S, may hold a slight edge, but competition from Dali’s Gold, My Life My Rules, and Amron Tigress suggests this could come down to a thrilling finish.
Endurance and Experience Highlight Midday Stakes
The staying test of the day, the Varanasi Plate, spans 2000 metres for horses rated 60 and above. Natural Gold, trained by Mansoor Khan, is one to watch for his consistent gallop. He faces solid opposition from Rock Bank, with top rider P. Trevor in the irons, while Key to the Mint could add surprise value over the distance.
The fourth race, the Ashwajaya Plate (Div II), returns to the 1200-metre sprint format for horses rated 20 to 45. Ocean, a strong contender from the Monnappa yard, looks ready to dominate if she handles the early pace. Lord’s Grace and Tendrils of Power add depth to a field where margins could be razor-thin.
Golden Stakes and the Feature Million
The spotlight intensifies with the Kanchanganga Plate (Div II), scheduled just before the main event. The Golden Sunrise, with Y. S. Srinath up, enters in top form. Toscana, Pretty Move, and Emerald Queen, however, aren’t expected to make it easy, as all bring good form and experienced connections.
Then comes the headline event, the Mysore Race Club Million 2025 over a mile. Aashirvad, piloted by Abhishek Mhatre for trainer Monnappa C D, headlines the field, but must contend with the likes of Moon Star and Zilfee, both of whom have demonstrated a strong turn of foot this season. Expect this race to crown a worthy champion of the summer season.
High-Stakes Sprint Finishes the Meet
The second last race is the Ashwajaya Plate (Div I), again over 1200 metres for horses rated 20 to 45. One Diamond, another Monnappa runner with Abhishek Mhatre aboard, looks to impress in this division, though Hasting Sunrise and Darling Falcon are very much in the mix.
The Kanchanganga Plate (Div I) brings down the curtain with a 1400-metre sprint for horses rated 40 to 65. Confident Game, under the reliable Y. S. Srinath, will look to assert control early. Reign of Terror and Sound of Canon’s are expected to challenge in the final furlong, rounding off the summer season with flair.
