Light The World Outduels Rivals in Calcutta’s Imperial Stride Handicap Div I
The Imperial Stride Handicap Div I, the second-last test on the second day of the Royal Calcutta Turf Club Monsoon Meeting, brought out a competitive field of horses rated 41–66 over 1100 meters. With a total stake of ₹5,00,000 up for grabs, the sprint promised fireworks, and Light The World delivered them.
Piloted by the experienced P Trevor, Light The World timed the run to perfection, pulling away in the final strides to stop the clock at 1:07.444. It marked another big-race success for trainer Aashay Doctor, who’s enjoyed a stellar afternoon at Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC). The ownership group, a diverse and passionate consortium including Ms. Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd., Mr. Bal Krishan Agarwal, Mr. Biswajit Sinha Roy, Mr. Vishal Doctor Mr. Kamal J. Doctor rep. Ms. Deciding Factor LLP, Mr. Enrico Piperno and Ms. Equine Splendour Racing Breeding Pvt. Ltd, had plenty to cheer for as their charge surged ahead in style.
Just behind was Kay Star, ridden by Arman Khan for trainer Rutherford Alford, who finished gallantly in 1:07.592, missing out narrowly. Clever Hans, with Ankush in the irons for Vikash Jaiswal, rounded out the top three in 1:07.676, showing heart in the closing meters.
With Light The World lighting up the track in Calcutta, attention now turns to the final race of the day, The Imperial Stride Handicap Div II.
