Supreme Grandeur Delivers a Classy Sprint in The True Colours Handicap
The fourth race on the second day of the 2025 Royal Calcutta Turf Club Monsoon Meeting offered a race of seasoned sprinters in the True Colours Handicap, an 1100-meter dash for horses rated 61–86. With a winners’ purse of ₹5,50,000 on the line, the stakes were fittingly high for a clash between established contenders.
Rising to the occasion was Supreme Grandeur, who edged out rivals with a perfectly timed run under Patrick Quinn, stopping the clock at 1:06.364. Trained by P Trevor, the winner was piloted with assurance through the pressure moments, delivering a performance that balanced patience with precision. Owned by Mr. Joydeep Paul, representing Abhyagama Hospitality LLP, the horse’s finishing burst proved decisive in a tightly contested finish.
Just behind, King Louis, ridden by Vishal N Bunde for trainer N Darashah, produced a strong closing effort in 1:06.456, falling short by less than a length. Third home was Watch My Stride, who stayed on gamely under Sonu Mishra for Sabeel Shariff, clocking 1:07.342.
Supreme Grandeur’s victory not only added depth to P Trevor’s growing riding portfolio but also reaffirmed the horse’s calibre in open handicap company. With energy still high at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC), the stage now shifts to the second last race of the afternoon, The Imperial Stride Handicap Div I.
