Victoria Cross Claims RCTC’s Cadman Cup Glory

As the monsoon clouds lingered over the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC), the second race of the day, The Cadman Cup delivered a thrilling 1400-meter contest for horses rated 21–46. With total stakes of ₹4,00,000, including a winner’s purse of ₹2,20,000 and a cup worth ₹20,000, the stakes were more than just symbolic.

Rising to the occasion was Victoria Cross, who displayed both class and composure to seal the race in 1:26.615. Guided expertly by Neeraj Rawal, the horse responded well to every cue, pushing ahead in the final stages to take the win for trainer N Darashah. Owned by Ms. Ameeta Mehra, Victoria Cross’s performance was a textbook demonstration of pace control and finishing flourish.

Interestingly, Darashah nearly pulled off a stable double as Over The Line, piloted by Arul J H, gave an earnest chase and finished second, clocking 1:27.271. Veneno, with Vishal N Bunde up for trainer B Rajender Reddy, completed the frame in 1:27.364, holding off late pressure to secure third.

With Victoria Cross now setting the benchmark for middle-distance runners this season, attention swiftly pivots to the next challenge on the card, The Turf Hawk Handicap, where sprint specialists will be vying for supremacy.
