In a tightly fought dash to the wire, Lord Eric delivered a perfectly timed run to capture the Truefitt & Hill Trophy Division I at Pune on August 2nd, 2025. The 1000-metre handicap for Indian horses aged four and above served up a thrilling contest, and it was P. Trevor aboard the Dallas Todywalla-trained horse who emerged victorious in 0:59.261.

Lord Eric Shows Grit and Class

Owned by Dr Cyrus S. Poonawalla, Mr Adar C. Poonawalla & Mrs Natasha A Poonawalla rep. Villoo Poonawalla Racing & Breeding Pvt Ltd, Mr D R Thacker rep. DT Racing & Breeders LLP, Mr Kairus Dadachanji, Mr S. R. Sanas, Mr Saleem Fazelbhoy & Mr Mukul Sonawala, Lord Eric tracked the pace smartly and pounced just when it mattered. The gelding’s acceleration in the final metres proved decisive, edging out his nearest rivals in a close finish.

The runner-up, Escape Velocity, trained by Nirad Karanjawala and ridden by Gagandeep Maan, gave a spirited chase but fell short by less than three-tenths of a second, clocking 0:59.552. Betsy, from the Faisal A. Abbas yard and guided by A. Sandesh, ran on late to secure third in 0:59.667.
