Record-Breaking $1.625M Velocious Inglis Digital Sale Stuns Market

In a headline-making moment for the online bloodstock market, the Velocious Inglis Digital Sale saw the G1-winning 2YO filly change hands for a staggering $1.625 million, with powerhouse buyers Yulong securing her after fierce international bidding.

Offered by Go Racing, Velocious attracted intense international interest, but it was Yulong who won the day, outbidding a determined pool of rivals to secure the prized youngster. The sale places Velocious just behind Funstar, who fetched $2.7 million on Inglis Digital in 2021.

“It’s just fantastic,” said Albert Bosma of Go Bloodstock. “We’re really rapt and extremely grateful for all the work Inglis has done to help us get this result.”

When you’re dealing with fillies of this calibre, you only have a small pool of potential buyers, but the level of interest was thrilling. The marketing by Inglis was top-notch. She was put in front of the right buyers and the result speaks for itself.

Velocious first burst onto the scene as a precocious 2YO, delivering a devastating turn of foot to claim the G1 Sistema Stakes in New Zealand. Her blend of speed and professionalism made her a standout among her generation, and her pedigree — being by leading sire Written Tycoon — only strengthened her appeal. With a G1 win under her belt and a commercial female family behind her, Velocious became an obvious target for breeding operations seeking proven class and residual value.

Velocious, a brilliant juvenile winner at Ellerslie, becomes the 13th lot to command a seven-figure price tag on Inglis Digital. The success was particularly sweet for Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager Brett Gilding, who had followed the filly’s career closely.

“I saw Velocious win as a 2YO and was determined to bring her to Inglis when the time came,” said Gilding. “The final price exceeded expectations and proves just how much demand there was for her. This Velocious Inglis Digital Sale is a great example of how we deliver exceptional results for our clients.”

Yulong Secures Star Filly in Velocious Inglis Digital Sale

Sam Fairgray of Yulong confirmed that the acquisition of Velocious had been in the works for months. “Mr Zhang had been monitoring her for some time. When she hit the market, he was very keen,” Fairgray said.

Fairgray indicated that Velocious is likely to visit More Than Looks, which they believe to be an ideal match. Yulong already owns Velocious’ dam, Parmalove, also acquired via Inglis Digital in 2024, and she is currently carrying a full sibling to Velocious.

“It’s fantastic to be bringing Velocious to the farm. She was a high-class 2YO, and we already own the family. It fits perfectly with our breeding plans.”

Comica Tops Broodmares as Inglis Digital Gross Surpasses $4.8M

The sale also saw strong results across other lots. The second-highest seller was broodmare Comica, in foal to Ole Kirk, who fetched $220,000 to the bid of Two Bays Farm. Offered by Merton Creek Thoroughbreds, the mare drew interest from top operations.

“We usually sell at physical sales, so this was a new approach,” said Sunny Mitchell of Merton Creek. “We were thrilled with the outcome, and the support from Inglis and Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price was excellent.”

Rob Carlile of Two Bays added: “Ole Kirk is extremely popular, and opportunities to get mares in foal to him are rare. Comica made a lot of sense for us strategically.”

Five Lots Reach Six Figures in July (Late) Sale

In total, five lots sold for six figures in the July (Late) Sale — Velocious ($1.625m), Comica ($220,000), Royal Mule ($200,000), Wild Belle ($155,000), and Express Yo’self ($100,000). The sale grossed $4,849,350, underscoring the continued strength and global reach of the Inglis Digital platform.
