The second last race of day 22 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting was the prestigious Karnataka Mile Championship Cup. A 1600-meter terms race for four-year-olds and above, it carried a total purse of ₹17,10,000, including a winner’s share of ₹10,80,000 and a trophy valued at ₹50,000 presented by the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd.
Living up to the moment was Mayne Magic, who produced a flawless effort under jockey Antony Raj S. to score a landmark win. Trained by Kishan Thomas K, the gelding timed his run to perfection and crossed the line in 1:39.00. The win was a proud one for owners Mr. Eugene Aloysious Mayne and Mrs. Joan Mayne, as their star galloper stamped his class in this marquee contest.
Galahad fought hard in the straight but had to settle for second, finishing in 1:39.15. He was piloted by P. Trevor and trained by S.S. Attaollahi, representing a large ownership group including Sarainaga Racing Pvt. Ltd., DT Racing & Breeding LLP, Mr. Mukul A. Sonawala, Mr. S. R. Sanas, and Mr. Inderraj Anand.
Prana, trained by Prasanna Kumar and ridden by Suraj Narredu, filled the frame in third with a timing of 1:39.66. The runner-up races for M/s. Rapar Galloping Stars LLP, represented by Mr. Rajendran.
Monteverdi brought up the rear in the field, closing out this mile feature.
