The spotlight race of the afternoon, the Bangalore City Sprint Championship Gold Cup, lived up to expectations as Time And Tide stormed home to claim top honours in Saturday’s second last contest at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC). The 1200-metre terms race, open to horses three years old and over, offered a total prize pool of Rs. 14,90,000, with the winner earning Rs. 9,12,244 and a trophy valued at Rs. 40,000, presented by the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd.
Ridden with confidence by A. Sandesh and trained by Adhiraj Singh Jodha, Time And Tide put in a commanding performance, hitting the front at the right moment and stopping the clock at 1:13.64. The winner is owned by Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd, represented by Mr. Vikram Bachhawat, and delivered a polished sprinting effort that underlined top-class form.
Imperial Blue, from the yard of Irfan Ghatala and ridden by Arvind Kumar N, finished second in 1:14.49, staying on well but unable to match the winner’s turn of foot.
Third place went to Aldgate, trained by Arjun Mangalorkar and ridden by Antony Raj S, who timed 1:14.57 in a solid effort, rounding off a competitive finish among the top sprinters.
