The second race on Day 18 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting, the Indian Pattern Committee Trophy Div I, witnessed a striking victory by Money Bags, who outpaced rivals in the 1200-meter handicap for horses rated 20 to 45. Held at 1:45 PM with a purse of ₹5,10,000, the race delivered a competitive finish at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC).

Guided with confidence by jockey Akshay Kumar, Money Bags, the tote-favourite surged ahead in the final furlong to seal the contest in 1:12.44, giving trainer Prasanna Kumar another notable win this season. The victory was celebrated by the ownership group of Capt Jamshed J. Appoo, Mr K. Manoj Kumar, Mr K. Kaliyaperumal, and Mr J. Ramesh, whose gelding showed a sharp turn of foot when it mattered most.

Basilica, trained by S. S. Attaollahi and ridden by P. Trevor, stayed in close contention but had to settle for second after clocking 1:13.41. Representing Mr C. Aryama Sundaram, Basilica was prominent throughout but lacked the final kick to match the winner.

Completing the frame was Bellavita, under Y. S. Srinath for trainer K. Purshotham and owner Mr Nirash Bothara. Bellavita clocked 1:13.48, doing enough to fend off the chasing pack and secure third.

As BTC’s summer meeting continues, anticipation now builds toward the next contest, The Mumbai Cup, scheduled for 2:15 PM. Stay tuned as more action unfolds from this high-octane race day.
