Drama unfolded in the closing race of Mysore Summer Races – Day 7 as Nevada Gold was declared the winner of The Talakaveri Plate following an objection by jockey S. G Prasad who initially finished second. The 1400-metre handicap for horses rated 40 to 65, held at 5:00 PM, offered a purse of ₹5,75,000 and delivered a thrilling finish.
Nevada Gold, piloted by S.G. Prasad and trained by Mansoor Khan, initially crossed the line second in 1:23.921, behind Red Falcon. However, a post-race objection was lodged. In his objection jockey S. G Prasad stated, “In the final 150 metres, the winner came onto me and bumped me twice when my horse was in full flight. This cost me a certain race.”
After reviewing the incident, the stewards upheld the objection and reversed the order, officially awarding victory to Nevada Gold for owner Mr. Raja Malhotra.
Red Falcon, trained by Suraj Prasad Shaw and ridden by Saqlain S, was demoted to second, clocking 1:23.835, while Sherouk, under Neeraj Rawal for Pillay J S, completed the top three in 1:24.978.
With a conclusion to the day’s card, all eyes now turn to the upcoming race day on July 16th, 2025, at Mysore Racecourse.
