With an eye on strengthening its global equine sourcing, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has welcomed Stuart Boman to its Hong Kong International Sale (HKIS) team. A respected name in the global bloodstock arena, Boman will take on the role of contracted agent in the Northern Hemisphere, overseeing the identification and preparation of horses destined for the prestigious annual sale.

Boman, a partner at the UK-based Blandford Bloodstock agency, brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong track record of success at the highest level of racing. Among his notable selections are Zaaki, a Group 1 superstar who earned over AU$11 million, and Docklands, a recent Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes victor at Royal Ascot. His list of past picks also includes Top Ranked, Euro Charline, and Crackerjack King—names that resonate strongly in elite racing circles.

His appointment follows the conclusion of Michael Kinane’s distinguished tenure as the HKJC’s Northern Hemisphere agent for six years. Kinane, himself a former top jockey, brought exceptional vision and horsemanship to the role. One of his most celebrated finds is Romantic Warrior, the global sensation and reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year. With ten Group 1 victories spread across four racing jurisdictions, Romantic Warrior’s total earnings of HK$214.7 million mark him as the most successful graduate in HKIS history.

The Hong Kong International Sale continues to serve as a premier platform for Permit Holders to acquire some of the best bloodstock from international yearling sales. Over the years, the sale has produced a stellar lineup of champions including Pakistan Star, The Duke, Good Ba Ba, Scintillation, and the up-and-coming Patch Of Theta. These horses have contributed to HKIS’s reputation as a gateway to racing success.

With Boman’s appointment, the HKJC reiterates its commitment to sourcing world-class talent and maintaining the high standards that the HKIS is known for. His eye for potential and proven expertise are expected to bring a fresh wave of success to Hong Kong’s racing landscape.
