Gulfstream Park delivered a thrilling Saturday of racing, highlighted by an outstanding performance from jockey Edgard Zayas, who capped off his afternoon with a commanding victory aboard Prevent in the $75,000 Soldier’s Dancer Stakes. This win marked his third of the day and completed a clean sweep of the stakes events during the Royal Palm Meet.

After a disappointing effort in the Mac Diarmida Stakes earlier this year, Prevent returned sharper and more focused with the addition of blinkers. The four-year-old broke sharply from the gate and took early control of the one-mile-and-70-yard contest on the Tapeta surface. Despite drifting out in the stretch and showing signs of fatigue late, Prevent held his ground gamely to secure his fifth career win with a final time of 1:39.31.

Zayas, who currently leads all riders at the meet, spoke about the horse’s challenging temperament, noting that Prevent performs best when allowed to run freely. His decision to avoid interfering down the stretch, despite the drift, proved key to maintaining the lead under pressure.

Following Prevent across the line was longshot Kalik in second, with I Know I Know finishing third. Race favorite Just a Photo settled for fourth, while Tocayo, a previous turf stakes winner, checked in fifth. Morning-line favorite Grand Mo the First was scratched.

Earlier in the day, Zayas also guided Implementation to victory in the Smile Sprint, reinforcing his dominant form and the confidence placed in him by trainers and owners throughout the meet.

The day’s momentum wasn’t limited to just Zayas. Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse kicked off the card with back-to-back wins, showcasing his stable’s readiness and consistency. Meanwhile, rising apprentice jockey Yolber Torres made a strong impression by securing a hat trick with three solid victories, signaling a promising future in the saddle. Veteran rider Miguel Vasquez also made his mark, claiming wins in both the opening and closing races of the afternoon.

Sunday promises to keep the excitement alive with a competitive 10-race program, including the Successful Native, an overnight handicap featuring seasoned sprinters battling over 5½ furlongs on the all-weather surface. Standout contenders include Extendo, who has shown strong form on synthetic tracks, and Sosua Summer, making his first start for trainer Victor Barboza Jr. after being claimed. Also in the mix is Biz Biz Buzz, a stakes-placed runner aiming to bounce back into winning form.

With high-caliber performances, emerging talent, and compelling matchups, Gulfstream Park continues to deliver dynamic racing action that captures the spirit of the sport.
