The sixth day of the Mysore Summer Meeting 2025 got off to a gripping start with The Kodlipet Plate, a 2000-meter handicap contest for horses rated 20 to 45, offering a total purse of ₹4,50,000. The race, flagged off at 2:30 PM on July 2nd, delivered a rousing start to the afternoon’s card, headlined by a strategic and well-timed run from Mind Games, who surged ahead in the final furlong to seal victory.
Trained by M. Pratap Kamath and ridden with poise by jockey Faiz, Mind Games proved too good for the rest, crossing the finish line in 2:06.921 to hand owner Col. Kuldeep Singh Garcha a well-earned win. The 3-year-old gelding timed his move expertly, conserving energy before making a decisive push in the straight to hold off his rivals.
Close behind came Saigon, partnered by jockey L. Alex Rozario and trained by J. S. Pillay, who kept up the pressure till the final strides but ultimately had to settle for second place, clocking 2:07.277. The Pillay yard, however, did not go unrewarded, as Gimme, also from the same stable and ridden by Anil Baandal, secured the third spot with a timing of 2:07.934.
The early pace was moderate, but the race quickened noticeably in the final meters, creating a tightly contested finish among the top trio.
The performance of Mind Games sets a promising tone for the rest of the day, while the dual placings for J. S. Pillay’s yard confirm consistent form. With The Kodlipet Plate now in the books, attention shifts to the next race of the day, The Kinski Plate, stay tuned for further updates.
