The catalogue for New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2026 Ready to Run Sale is now available, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched two-year-old sales of the year at Karaka on November 18 and 19.
2026 Ready to Run Sale
The sale has built a formidable record in recent seasons, with graduates accounting for 33 Group One victories and 115 stakes wins over the past five seasons. The strength of that record was again evident last season, when graduates recorded 26 black-type victories.
That list of success includes Hong Kong Derby winner Invincible Ibis, along with Group One performers Ceolwulf, Mr Brightside, Gringotts, Lucky Sweynesse, Golden Sixty, Antino, Feroce, War Machine and Warmonger. Their achievements have helped establish the Karaka auction as an important source of high-class racing talent across the region.
The 2026 catalogue will feature 460 two-year-olds, giving buyers a broad selection of young horses prepared by 36 of New Zealand’s leading horsemen and women. Their preparation combines pedigree, physical development and education, all key elements associated with graduates of the sale.
The depth of the catalogue is also reflected in its sire representation. A total of 119 stallions are represented, creating one of the most diverse line-ups assembled for the Ready to Run Sale.
Among the established sires represented are Proisir, Savabeel, Per Incanto, Shamexpress, Super Seth, Wrote, Satono Aladdin, Ocean Park, Sweynesse, Sword of State, The Autumn Sun, Street Boss, Hellbent, Written Tycoon, Toronado, Capitalist, So You Think, Russian Revolution, Frankel, Too Darn Hot and Home Affairs.
The catalogue also includes progeny from emerging and first-season sires, adding another layer of interest to the two-day Karaka offering.
The sale will begin at 11am New Zealand time on both November 18 and 19 at the Karaka Sales Centre. Before then, the breeze-up stage will provide an important early look at the juveniles, with the Breeze Ups scheduled for October 12 and 13 at Te Rapa Racecourse.
The event’s recent record will inevitably place attention on the new crop, particularly given the number of Group One performers to have emerged from previous editions. For breeders, trainers and prospective owners, the Karaka sale will offer an opportunity to assess another sizeable group of two-year-olds with established pedigrees and professional preparation behind them.
